rules.

i do not think that there are many rules for the op-ed genre. you write on what you find, and if the public does not like it they will not read your op-ed. some examples of this is in the op-ed that i read today. the article was about the new or current presidential elect Barak Obama. it was an extremely popular because it was something the public wants to read about. it was also controversial because some do not like the new president elect. the rules and conventions that i have picked it is that you should speak your mind but speak eloquently, and educated. you will get more respect as an op-ed writer if you do so. if the topic you are writing about is not something the public wants to read, make them want to read it with your persuasive argument.
